Asia Public/Private Partnership Institute (APPPI) was established in 2011 by inviting Mr. Masajuro Shiokawa, the former head of Toyo University, and Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, the former Malaysian Prime Minister as the Honorary Advisors. The purpose of its foundation is to assist local governments of Asian countries, in particular those in Southeast Asia in enhancing regional development of the local municipalities and achieving economic growth in the regions through the concept of PPP. APPPI's activities are the following; implementation of short-term PPP seminars targeting local government officials of Asian countries, implementation of regional development support programme (RDSP) in Asian countries, creation of standard PPP education materials as an educational tool to spread the concept of PPP across Asia.

世界に先駆けてPPP専門の大学院・世界初の研究所を開設したノウハウを活用し、広くアジア圏内における公民連携(PPP)に関する研究教育ならびに情報交換、人材交流を行うことを目的として活動しています。
