On 28 August 2024, APPPI hosted a committee from the Asia Pacific Public Private Partnership Association based in Taiwan at Toyo University Hakusan Campus. During the meeting, several presentations were made, and participants had the opportunity to learn about the differences between the PPP practices in Japan and Taiwan.
The Asia Pacific Public Private Partnership Association based in Taiwan was established in 2017, and its mission is to promote the PPP eco-system and encourage academic exchanges, further legal research in the area, and publicize case studies. There is also a capacity-building aspect, and they intend to strengthen cooperation with institutions across Asia-Pacific that have a similar vision. So, yesterday`s meeting was one of the steps in that direction.
The group spent a week in Tokyo doing several PPP project-related site visits and attending meetings with Japanese infrastructure companies.
