Asia Public/Private Partnership Institute (APPPI) was established in 2011 by inviting Mr. Masajuro Shiokawa, the former head of Toyo University, and Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, the former Malaysian Prime Minister as the Honorary Advisors. The purpose of its foundation is to assist local governments of Asian countries, in particular those in Southeast Asia in enhancing regional development of the local municipalities and achieving economic growth in the regions through the concept of PPP. APPPI's activities are the following; implementation of short-term PPP seminars targeting local government officials of Asian countries, implementation of regional development support programme (RDSP) in Asian countries, creation of standard PPP education materials as an educational tool to spread the concept of PPP across Asia.
